This powerful composition illustrates a message of hope and healing as Jesus is represented in prayerful thought over our country. The bleeding heart blossoms are symbolic of the sorrow felt by Christ. The white horse waits to be called on by Jesus, which is symbolic of the return of Christ. 

The subtitle comes from II Chronicles 7:14, “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways: then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” 

Jesus’ name and the cross can be found in the rocks.

“God Bless America” is the message in the rubble. Jesus’ name is painted into the wings of the eagle. Girgenti was recently at a speaking engagement and it was brought to her attention that there is a heart in the center of Jesus’ name. Ironically, it appears to be a broken heart.

One of the firemen looks to be Jesus, representing the Christian man living and giving his life for his fellow man. You can also find a hammer, a crown of thorns, and 3 nails in the rubble. On the tops of the structures are crosses.

The rubble was painted under the fire fighter’s feet, symbolic of going forward, rebuilding, and getting this behind us.

The subtitle comes from Psalm 144:1-2, Blessed be the Lord my skill in battle. He is my goodness, and my fortress; my high tower, my deliverer, and my shield.

This Story-Painting is a tribute to our soldiers. The event on the left is a baptism that followed the salvation of troops in Iraq. To the right is one of the soldiers paying respect and honor to one of the fallen soldiers. Messages to find: Jesus’ name and the words “The Great Commission”.  

There are at least five faces with eyes closed in the painting that were unintentional.

So often when something is going wrong in our country, we want to organize a boycott or want to protest. But did you know that as believers, we have something more powerful than boycotts? It is called prayer, and the Bible tells us to devote ourselves to it (see Colossians 4:2).

We need to pray for our country. We need to pray for people that need to hear the gospel. And we need to share the gospel. We need to share the good news of Jesus Christ with that woman who wants to abort her child. We need to share the gospel message with that man or woman who is trapped in the homosexual lifestyle. We need to share Christ with the gang members. We need to share Him with those in our society who are hurting.

As people learn there is another kingdom, it will change the way they live in this one. Far too often, we Christians have been preoccupied with the symptoms in our society and haven't touched the root of the problem. The root is sin. The solution is the gospel.

So let's get the solution to the root. Our country needs to turn back to God. We keep thinking that a president will solve all of our problems. Or Congress will solve them. Or some program will solve them. But they won't be solved through any efforts of our own doing. We need to turn back to God.

Let's tell others about Christ and not be so preoccupied with what they are doing because of their sin. Let's try to reach people where they are really hurting. And, let's always be sure we are praying.
